Entrepreneurs on Twitter

[update 11-9-2009] Twitter added a new feature for lists so I created this list here. 

I've been wondering how the previous list of entrepreneur bloggers I posted maps to Twitter so I redid the list (order is now by Twitter followers which is the number in parentheses).  80% of the bloggers on the list are on Twitter.  One thing that jumps out immediately is that several of the top bloggers are not (yet) on Twitter including: Seth Godin, Markus Frind, Linus Torvalds and Marc Andreessen among others.  I suspect there's a "sunk cost" argument driving this.  I think one of the reasons that Twitter is so popular is that it is a rare opportunity to redo the natural order of things (as evidenced by the changes indicated in the list below).  It is also a lot easier to Twitter than to blog. If you want to bulk subscribe to all of these folks, one way is to use NinjaFollow.  You can copy these screen names and paste them into NinjaFollow, press submit and voila!

        Note: This list uses the Twitter Grade to rank users (not the number of followers). I think it’s a more accurate representation of power and authority (because just the pure followers number is too easy to game).

        Next step is to build a simple widget that you can embed in a web page. Working on that now.

    An interesting list, demonstrates how even amongst entrepreneurs some of them just don’t get it (Twitter I mean) and some do. Won’t mention names however some are very boring (personal and nonsensical crap) and some others give good information about their industry. A reflection of the whole community I guess, some can communicate well and some just can’t. I suppose I was expecting more from a group of entrepreneurs as a whole. I will follow some though.     How are you defining “entrepreneur”? maybe this list is best categorized as entrepreneurship.

      It was a grueling process that makes the admissions process at Harvard look easy in comparison. But seriously I compiled the list starting with entrepreneurs that I follow and then added folks recommended by others. Not all of the folks on the list are founder/CEOs but most are. A few are senior executives at startup companies. If you think there is an egregious error with the list, let me know.

        I wasn’t being overly critical because I like what you’re doing.. lists drive people crazy when it’s positioned as an authorative list.. maybe you should word it entrepreneurs that you follow.

        On the accuracy point I leave it at this ..there is distinction between being an entrepreneur and being entrepreneurial.
